Mia's Haircut!

Mom & Dad took Mia to finally get her hair cut which was long over due...we went to Snip-its!

Here is the before photo of Mia's beautiful curls...I had to get one last shot. I know what you are thinking...'how can you cut her hair - don't do it! ' Well, that's exactly why I took this picture in San Diego...so we can always remember how it used to be.

Time to get the hair all washed up...to blow dry straight to measure 10 inches. We decided instead of trimming it, to go ahead and donate it to Lock of Love...especially since it will help someone who doesn't have any hair at all. We have plenty!

Does this look like torture? I'm not sure if Mia thought washing her hair would hurt - or if she was thinking she was in the hospital...? But once she figured out it didn't hurt, she was fine.


Not so bad after all...even though she's gripping my hand!

Reasons why I cut Mia's hair:

-It was too long
-She cired in the morning when I 'tried' to brush it
-She cried at night when I brushed it after I washed it
-Too hard to do
-Was looking a little ragged
-Hadn't been cut in over 3 years
-Wanted to donate it like all the other girls in the family
-Oh yeah, it'll grow back


Thankfully, she got to pick out a prize!

Thanksgiving Happenings

We spent Thanksgiving in Tucson with Matt's parents - Pam & Dennis. We drove down after school on Wednesday to beat the rain. It was a great time, the kids enjoyed the rain for a change and we woke up to thunder on Thursday morning. It did clear up enough for a quick family picture outside...

We left early on Friday to head back home for Ashley's Thanksgiving soccer tournament in Tempe. One of the dad's got some great pictures of her...thanks Gary! Go # 3!

Way to go Ashley...that truly was an awesome goal! She also had a great assist too...the Legacy girls won 2-0 this game...they sure know how to work as a team.

Another tradition at the McPoland household is to pull out the Christmas tree and decorate it the day after Thanksgiving. Here are each of the girls holding their favorite ornaments, with the help of McKinley, one of Mia's Bff's.

Matt's week off...

What do you do when you have a whole week off from work...? You take your wife and non-school aged children on a 'day' date of course! To...

Matt recieved a gift card to Dick's Sporting Goods from coahcing Alyssa's team this past fall season, so we thought we'd put it to good use. Matt bought a pair of Nike shorts which was well deserved. Then we headed off to the play area so Madison could burn some energy.



Time for lunch...

I have always wanted to try Cantina Laredo and today was the perfect opportunity to try it out for lunch. It's pretty pricy, so good thing we came for lunch. But oh it was tasty! A definite date night worthy place to go!

After a yummy lunch, it was off to do some browsing for Christmas shopping. Thankgoodness we did, because we found Alyssa's gift on sale! And I am on the prowl for good deals!! It was a great way to spend the morning...and it reminded us of the times - oh so long ago - when we just had Ashley. It was fun for Madison to be the only one for a little while.

My Trip to Washington

After my mom and I flew up to Washington on Tuesday Nov. 18th, my sister picked us up at the airport and we headed straight up to catch the 5 pm ferry in Anacortes. Of course we had to stop for a starbucks and some snacks along the way.

Oh the days of riding a ferry...of course my sisters car alarm went off so we all went back down and sat in the car. It was so cold! By the time we got in, it was time for dinner.

Then it was off to stay at Roche Harbor.

I loved sitting by the fireplace...it was nice and cozy. The hotel at Roche even has starbucks coffee in the hotel room...so of course we had to brew up a pot! Anyone who knows me knows this was a highlight for me!

Of course I had to get a picture with Mr. Snow and the lovely hotel in the background - being the blogger I am. It was a pleasure to see him, and he also took us on a personally guided tour of the new things happening at the resort. (Check the Roche Harbor website for frequent updates!)

I got to see Sara Parsons (for about 10 minutes!) - She made me a beautiful sign which I can't wait to hang up! It has my favorite verse on it...thanks so much Sara, and next time I am up there we have to have a good visit.

Mr. McNairy

What a blast from the past! - Mr. McNairy was my social studies (?) teacher back in the day. I have the greatest memories of him and government 'stuff.' I had to stop by and say a quick hello, thank goodness it happened to be right at lunch time! He still is the same...very animated which I love!
