Matt & I got the chance to go on a very fancy date to the Sparkling Starry Soiree Starlight Children's Foundation 2012 Gala. We got an e-mail from Hopekids that someone bought a table to this event, and they were using it as a 'parent date night.' How fun, I mean...when do we ever get dressed up like this without kids?? Umm, never. So it really was fun!
We made it all the way to the Fort Dowell Casino just past Fountain Hills...and were met by these characters. Look at the guy's face to my left...haha, creepy! (They were happy to get a pic for my blog ;)
This was quite a big event with a silent auction, a photo booth, and some really great food.
We even had name cards for us at our table...how fun!
You may also remember that back in December, we had the Bat Mobile come to our house (Click here to see). Charles Keller, is the owner of Gotham City Motors and thee driver of the Bat mobile. You must check out his website, so cool! His mission is to use the Bat Mobile for non profits, especially for children (and their dads.) We met him through Hopekids.
Another non-profit I have become aware of is the Ryan House. I first found them on twitter off of Hopekids, and saw they had a Ryan House 5k Run coming up. Then a friend from boot camp said she was putting together a group to run it, and of course I wanted to do it! It means a whole lot more to you when you know someone who actually goes to the Ryan House, and uses their services. It becomes personal and you want to help. In this photo is Ryan, and his parents who founded the Ryan House.What an amazing family.
Ryan presented Charles with an award...it was so precious.
Charles gave a very meaningful speech...about all these kids who benefit from special organizations such as Starlight.
At our table, we had families that are helped by Starlight, Hopekids, and the Ryan House. Also, a mother was there who lost her sweet girl Mariah to a brain tumor 17 months ago. Heart breaking...her little daughter slept with her key to the Bat Mobile under her pillow until she passed away. So even something as simple as that, means a whole lot to kids who are battling for their lives. Matt and I are forever grateful to these organizaitons who come along side families like the people you see above. The kindness from people who simply donate money to charities like these, trust me when I say, the families appreciate it so much!
