Mia's speech about DBA

I am so proud beyond words of Mia. We were asked if we could talk to students going into the Medical field at Mesquite High School's Club Med class, about her story of how she has Diamond Blackfan Anemia. She was a little nervous, but of course she did great! She stood up there all by herself. This class hosts 4 blood drives a year at their school. Saving lives! I love it. It was neat for the students to hear from a recipient of those blood drives how they are truly and literally saving lives.

Here she is explaining how she just had surgery to place a port inside of her, to help not get so many pokes on her arms. She has a lot of scar tissue so it hurts when they would try and start an IV.

Here she is passing out thank you cards with her picture on it, thanking them for helping raise awareness of donating blood.

Here's the Med Club Class...they were all very kind to my sweet Mia. They wrote the sweetest thank you note to her as well.

Haha !Being silly, laughter is the best medicine!

'EYE' am so glad to be here and share my story.

Mia rocking the be a hero and donate blood cape. She's the bravest girl I know!

Ashley's First Prom 2014

Ashley's first Junior Prom...Dad is wondering where all the time has gone. She was Kindergarten 5 minutes ago, it seems.

Selfie on the way to pictures. Ashley's 2 little sisters and he friend Dree really wanted to go too.

Mia's 108th blood transfusion

Mia's first time 'accessing' her port. It took two pokes...(bless her heart!) But she was super brave as always. She did cry which made me sad but her sisters were there so they made her feel better!

Our tradition is stopping by Dutch Bros for coffee on hospital days. It's a tasty special treat! We always tweet to them and they tweet us back! haha Love it!

One of my favorite photos ever!! Mia hanging out with her sisters. I am so happy she will have these memories with her sisters being there for her. (If you were wondering, they totally had school and I pulled them all out, just because.)

They got to meet Molly, a service dog who came and visited. She was a hit!

Good job Molly on being so SWEET!!

What a good girl! Of course now the girls want a dog like Molly!

Oh my goodness, this cracks me up. All the sisters hanging out chilling with their iphones and ipods in Mia's room. Too funny!!!

Here's a video we made to remember this awesome day:
