Sometimes...it really hurts.


A toy is only a small gift, but it can go a long way to help a sick child get through a painful medical procedure. That's why Andrea's Closet was created. When children face frightening medical treatments, such as procedures to treat cancer, burns or other life threatening illnesses, Andrea's Closet brings them comfort and distraction from their pain by allowing them to choose a special gift from a toy-filled closet. Painted on the very bottom of the closet is 1 Corinthians 13:13 ' There are three things that will endure - faith, hope, and love - and the greatest of these is love. '
Andrea's family created the closet because they thought every sick child should have access to a closet full of new toys. Sadly, Andrea passed away from cancer in 2002. But she still brings smiles to so many kids today.


Mia was much better after the IV was started. We arrived at the hospital at 7:00 am, after getting our morning ritual...a starbucks! Once we were set with the blood draws and IV we went down stairs to the office, to be seen by the doctor. Her hgb was 9.7...which would have been ok to not transfuse her, but since we are leaving for the beach for a week, I thought it would be best to go ahead and do it. Now she will be ready for some serious sand castles and wave jumping!
