Mia was in need of a finger poke today. Her scheduled appointment wasn't until tomorrow, but after the weekend she had I knew we couldn't wait. I'm so glad I took her in because her hemoglobin was 8.4...and only 2 weeks ago it was 11.1. To me, that's a fast drop, anyways she will get a transfusion tomorrow and that will make her feel better. Lilly the dog was there to play with so the girls loved that!
Once we get to our room to wait for the doctor, the first stop is the snack bar. Rice krispy treats should do.
It took two finger pokes...and then we were on our way to POTC for a type and cross.
This might look staged...but it's not. As soon as you get off the elevator to the second floor, straight ahead is the new chapel. Mia said, 'oh can we play in here?' and I said no, and explained that this is like a church and we can pray in here. So she prayed out loud for her friend Layla all on her own. And if you could keep Layla in your prayers, that would be GREATLY appreciated.
Dr. Panchoosingh! He started Arizona Pediatric Hematology/Oncology years ago. He was the first doctor Mia saw when she was 2 months old and in the ER with a hgb of 2.4. We will NEVER forget that. He said, 'She may have this thing called Diamond Blackfan Anemia, but we'll have to wait and see.' Sure enough, after months of her not making any red blood cells, that was her diagnosis. Dr. P. has been with us ever since. He's watched her grow...and I'm sad to say he is moving on. (Sorry Dr. P. if that's not public knowledge!) It'll be weird not having him around, that's for sure, and sad not to tease him about his long hair. We truly will miss his wisdom & knowledge in the office, and his compassion for these kids. He is a great doctor!

You guys have this down to a tee. Dr. P. what a blessing he has been to your family. Sorry that he is leaving. The view on the 7th floor is beautiful. Which way are they looking? Good luck tomorrow!
